Nigeria adopted the Child Rights Act (CRA) to domesticate the Convenon on the Rights of the Child in 2003. The Nigerian Child Rights Act 2003 recognizes the rights of children, restores their confidence and self-esteem and improves their status. It also enables children with disabilies, to enjoy their rights fully, as it provides special measures for their care and protecon.
An Act to eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence against persons and to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders; and for related matters.
This Law is for the full inclusion of Persons with Disabilities into the society and to set-up a National Disability Commission that will be in charge of their education, healthcare, social, economic and their other human rights. ENACTED by the National Assembly in 2019
Following its adoption at the 61 session of the United Nations General Assembly on th 13 December, 2006, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities rd (CRPD) became operational as an International Law on 3 May, 2008.
