Hajia Mariya Ishaka is a mother and a person with albinism. She is an entrepreneur and leader who loves to cook, travel, meet new people and promote and protect the rights of persons with albinism especially women and girls with albinism. She has been an event planner for the past two decades and have dedicatedly worked in the hospitality industry for over twenty years, moving from cleaner to manager of different departments through hard work and transparency. She has also worked and had workshops and trainings with Non-governmental organizations like SWATCH (Support for Women and Teenage Children), Family health international 360 and ENABLE (Enhancing Nigeria Advocacy for a better Business Environment). She is currently the Coordinator of the Albino Foundation Kano state Chapter and Assistant Secretary General Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Kano State. She has been in the fore front of albinism advocacy in Nigeria; championing and advocating for the rights of these vulnerable groups.
